/ dʒeɪnəs / . the Greek god of doorways, passages, and beginnings . to be two-faced
Setting: On a mountain lies a great city split between the angels and the demons. In the north, angels live, their society ruled by a council of elders, their lives dictated by rituals, legend, and the godstone that gives them life. to the south past a great empty section, live the demons. Their society is ruled by a corrupt council, power in the hands of the purebloods. To the south, the godstone grows fewer and fewer, only existing in the great plaza where the rituals are held. Nothing outside of the mountain is known and no other species flourish, though there are unique animals on the mountain.
Angels: Those that live in the northern half of the city. Appearance tends toward soft colors with pale skin, white or blonde hair, blue eyes, or other unnatural tones like purple or lavender. It's rare for black hair to exist, but it can along with other colorations. There is no outward sign of wings or magic, though wing imagery is part of the culture.
Demons: Though they consider themselves a different species, they were once angels. Appearance tends toward darker imagery: black, red, or orange hair, unnatural eyes, and punk clothing. In reality, many demons are still born with blond hair though, so it's common to dye it for the sake of culture. As time wears on, the unacceptable angel genes are being bred out. Tattoos are also commonplace. Like the angels, there is no natural existence of inhuman elements or ties to magic.
Godstone: A mysterious rock that exists naturally in the veins of the mountain. Seems to originate in a single cave which can be entered only by those with pure blood, according to the teachings. It continues and gathers in great concentration at a natural springs where the summer renewal ritual happens. Neither angels nor demons can live without bathing here once a year. It seems the stone's power is a source of life. It's pearly pink in color and does not form crystals but rather forms a smooth stone.
