Edgar Van Cortlandt
"quote"
Personality: Aggressive and blunt, he's the type to insult people before making friends with them. He prides himself too much on his skills and his place in life, often thinking others are beneath him. In truth, he worked hard to get where he is but he's also taken everything in his life for granted, from friends to his finances. He doesn't know how to do many simple tasks and has relied on others to feed and clean up after him. He doesn't even like to be praised that much, but there is nothing that he dislikes more than losing or being insulted. When he loses, he becomes violently angry and blames others, though deep inside, it lights a fire that says he would rather die than lose again and he would fight with all his passion in order to achieve that. In that regard, he can be quite noble in his pursuit of self-perfection.

Age: 20
Gender: Male Species: Human Orientation: Straight Status: Not taken Occupation: College student on a sports scholarship Appearance: At 6 foot tall with broad shoulders and a built upper torso, he cuts an imposing figure made only more imposing by his sharp blue-grey eyes and the violet hair that often covers them. He has a piercing in the upper cartilage of both ears but doesn't always wear them. His fashion tends to be simple and athletic--sweat pants, jerseys, muscle tanks, and t-shirts with jeans. The only other jewelry he will wear is a simple woven black cord on his wrist. Likes: Swimming, running, action movies, and people shorter than him. Dislikes: Affronts to his pride, losing to a girl, and anything avant-garde in fashion. Bio: Most people would say that his life is perfect. Decent grades, a full-ride scholarship, rich parents and a nice summer home with servants waiting on hand. But Edgar has always wanted more. From the youngest age he can remember, he's always needed to compete to the best in everything he did. However, the passion tends to die when he's reached the top. Piano--he quit when he bested his teacher after three years. Track--he impressed the coach enough for him to beg Edgar to join the team. He declined just to see his face. Archery--He still dabbles in it occasionally but he's neither the best nor has he found a worthy opponent to make him try so. Swimming has been his only talent that he stuck with from childhood now to his adult years. It might seem strange for a man of Edgar's background to be an athlete but he is one and the straightforward competition has kept him interested. He's the top of his college swim team but from there, he has national competitions and international goals, if life will give him a chance. But given the way his talent is beginning to stagnate, it's possible that this interest might fade as well, like all the others before it. |
