Shayla Elymas
"A different fighter may have just run their blade through their enemy, but then where would we be, not knowing who we went against? A different fighter would be dead."
Likes: Plants, forests, walking, woodland creatures, and the early morning light.
Dislikes: Fighting, logging, blacksmithing fires or the smell of smoke. Personality: She can seem a little haughty at first, but she’s just wise and to the point. Even to strangers, she’s always kind and just, but she gets along with nature better than people. Nature is something she understands. Earth bound creatures are another matter entirely. They confuse her and because of this, she can sometimes dismiss their opinions. However, she does want to understand and enjoys observing all kinds of interactions. She’s quite smart, but not a show off, or at least, not on purpose. She states the facts she knows without caring that she might stub toes. But this is because she's serious about the things she's set out to do and passionate about her causes. Her strong mind and inner core makes her a natural leader and perhaps give her the impression of a fighter. However, she prefers words to swords and considers engaging in violence quite seriously before joining a fray. Perhaps it's because she's born from nature but she both understands the ebbs and flows of violence and strives for peace. |
Age: 48 (≈24)
Gender: Female Species: Dryad Orientation: Undefined Status: Single Occupation: Waitress, adventurer Powers: Dryads are born from trees with an extraordinary long life or historical significance. The older the tree, the more powerful the spirit inside of it can become. Because dryads are born from nature they have some control over it. They cannot create life from nothing or grow something to an absurd degree, but like an ultimate green thumb, they can unlock the fullest potential of any plant and then ask for its compliance in a task. In times of great crisis, a dryad can also instantly return to their original tree which not even Shayla's closest friends know the location of. Her greatest weakness would be a land without any vegetation. Otherwise, dryads can be killed by any ordinary means as long as it's swift enough to keep them from returning to their tree. Their greatest boon is their natural ability to use any fertile landscape to their advantage and it is said that dryad's share some knowledge with each other through their roots, leaving even the youngest spirit wise beyond their years. Appearance: She’s slender and about 5’8” in height with an athletic build. Her skin is tanned and her golden-brown hair falls in faint curls and waves to her mid back. She will never tie it back fully, but would tuck back parts of it or make small braids. Barrettes or pins would be used for this, most of the time hidden, but sometimes delicate and pretty things with butterflies or leaf shapes might be seen. Her eyes are hazel. Clothing is feminine and well fitting, sticking to earth tones and any sort of earth design. Billowing sleeves suit her as well as long skirts, especially with a side slit, or tight pants. She wears boots when traveling, but roman-style sandals when working in the tavern. Bio: She is a dryad of moderate age. Many years ago, she traveled from out of the mountains and made a residence in the small town of Brasick. She works as a waitress in the local tavern and is on good terms with most of the residents as someone that can be looked up to for advice or just an ear to listen. Little is known about her life before Brasick. Other: She carries two long knives which she is proficient with. As someone first born as a tree, she struggles with the concept of gender and sexuality. |
