Likes: Densely forested areas, open fields, cool and moist environments, and the sound of wind through chimes.
Dislikes: Pointless violence and disrespect to nature, close-minded people, and anyone who acts as a bystander. Sotunkang: The nation of Sotunkang comprises of seven tribes ruled separately and bound by centuries of tradition and alliance. Although their murky future might have once held conflict, it's been too many generations for anyone to say for certain. The tribes keep each other in check and any issues are resolved with peaceful negotiation. However, the tribes' interactions with the outside world is far more fraught. Even when the mountain passes were open, the journey was a difficult one. Sotunkang never made permanent alliances with any nation and only existed as a trading partner and mainly individuals traveled out in order to study or train. There have been some occasions where foreigners took up permanent residence in Sotunkang and became tribesmen, but there are no colonies of foreign cultures or occupied missions. This is all in the past, however. For generations, Sotunkang has closed its borders in order to preserve the old ways. The mountain pass was destroyed and the unindoctrinated were expelled. The nation has become a legend beyond the mountains, one that many believe has already died out. |
Age: 24
Gender: Male Species: Human Orientation: Pansexual Status: Single Occupation: researcher/shaman in training Appearance: He’s relatively tall and has the slightest tan. His hair is brown and falls past his shoulders with a couple shorter strands falling into his face. The color is on the cooler side, but toward the tips, a purplish-red hue is more prominent. He normally has feathers tied in or a couple flowers. Any other natural objects would not be out of place. His eyes are purple. It is not unusual for his people to use face paint or colored eyeliners. He wears clothes that flow and suit the natural environment, but are not impractical for travel and carries a small knife at his waist. Skills: He's trained in medicine, both of the body and soul, able to gather and dry herbs or mix salves as well as identify edibles and poisons even among plants he's never seen before. Although he's had very little practice, he's studied the way of the shamans of old and it's been told that everything from communicating with the dead, seeing the future, calling upon the spirits, and tracing energies across time and space are possible for the skilled. He is, so far, most proficient in sensing energies. Personality: He’s a gentle soul and always in tune with nature. However, he’s defiant and known as something of a rebel among his people. His curiosity is something of a rarity and it’s made him easy to frustration. He’s naturally a protective sort, never wishing harm unto anyone, but willing to fight for himself and others alike. If he does make an enemy, they should tread lightly because he won’t give up easily. He tends to state his opinion without hesitation, even when it wasn't asked for. In this way, he can be an awkward conversation partner and he's not as good at reading people's moods as he is at reading the moods of the land. It's likely that he will ask the wrong question or insult someone without even trying. Bio: His parents died when he was young so his uncle raised him along with one younger brother and his older cousins (the youngest being ten years older than him). He lived a good life and learned a great deal from his uncle but they often butted heads, leaving their final parting on sour terms. His country of Sotunkang has long been isolated from the rest of the world, but due to a dire problem, he sought answers outside of his own nation. Unsupported by the elders, rebuked by his uncle and blessed only by the medicine man they long gave up faith in, he set out alone past the great mountain range and to a world he'd only heard about in stories. |
